Scrumptious Savoy Cabbage

Scrumptious savoy cabbage is such an easy recipe to make and great for Phase I and all other Phases of D2D. Cabbage is a divine gift to humanity in all its forms and when we cook it on a low heat the antioxidant levels rise! Yep! So true!
If you're being extra health conscious you can prepare the cabbage with Shiokoji for 4-12 hours or overnight before using it in this recipe.
You can use other types of cabbage as well but savoy cabbage gives the greatest effect on the taste buds.
For phase II and beyond you could jazz this up by adding sundried fermented tomatoes and/or raisons
Ingredients
- 1 Savoy Cabbage
- 1/4 bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 clove of garlic (optional)
- 1/2 tsp mixed herbs of your choice (fresh only if on Phase I)
- salt and pepper (omit pepper on Phase I)
- 50 mls hot water
Method
- Crush the garlic and gently fry in the coconut oil on a low heat.
- Chop the cabbage into strips and place in the pain with the garlic
- Add the hot water - this is so that the cabbage doesn't stick and burn to the bottom of the pan
- Add the salt, herbs and bicarb
- Leave to cook on a low heat (just below simmering) for 30 mins or longer (up to 14 hours) - making sure to stir, so as not to burn the cabbage.
